The place for the construction of the bamboo school pilot project was in the village Anaikot, located about 25 kilometres east of the Nepalese capital Kathmandu. This was chosen on the recommendation of Vice-president of the District Kabhre. The area lies in the foothills of the Himalayas at an altitude of around 1150m.
Commencement of construction took place in October 2012. The school was officially opened on the 28th April 2013. The first Namaste Nepal volunteer went to teach at the Bamboo school in the autumn of the same year.
