South-Moravian School in Khandadevi (2008)

In April 2007, the South-Moravian Region Council approved a proposal from the Governor Ing. Stanislav Juranek, for a contribution of CZK 150,000, for the construction of a new elementary school in the village at Nagre Gagarche Khandadevi, Kabhre district; which lies in the foothills of the Himalayas about 55 kilometres east of Kathmandu, capital of Nepal. This completed the collection of funds for the construction of the tenth school in Nepal, organised by Development of Children and Woman Centre, Nepalese partner foundation. The Khandadevi School is financed by money from the Czech Republic only.

The school bears the name "Jihomoravska higher primary school Khandadevi"; the foundation stone for its construction was laid on the 2nd September 2007. All the inhabitants of the village, especially the children, were happy that a school was being constructed.
On the 1st and the 2nd November 2007 the Khandadevi school construction site was visited by South-Moravian council representatives. Mr M. Vlasin forwarded a greeting letter from Ing. S. Juranek (the governor of South Moravia) and placed a plaque with the Czech, and Nepalese flags and the names of the main sponsors: South-Moravian Region and Namaste Nepal.
The school was designed for 75 students. Here you can see the details of the construction project in the village Khandadevi (in Czech).

Inauguration of the new school took place on 5 April 2008.
